New Encaustics arrive at Artsource

"Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot physically see with his eyes... Abstract art enables the artist to perceive beyond the tangible, to extend the infinite out of the finite. It is the emancipation of the mind. It is an explosion into unknown areas."           Arshile Gorky

Joseph, who attended East Carolina University’s School of Art in the early 70’s as a Art Education major with a minor  in Sculpture, mostly works on acrylic abstracts on paper and large acrylic mixed media on canvas. His work reflects sheer intuitive decision making in his “Alla Prima” sessions and the emotional content of color.

Sharon, a BA graduate of Central Michigan University School of Fine and Applied Art, works primarily in abstract acrylic collage and assemblage. As a recent prizewinner at the 2005 North Carolina State Fair, Sharon involves herself in the creative process and how it pertains to her family life experiences.
